Soul Eating Spiders

The clattering from the pipes all around you grow louder. Amir and Lia stand ready while Lam continues to light the fire at the feet of the lizard creature, bound to

the walls with resin and webing. A few heart beats later, Lam succeeds in lighting the fire using dried animal dung, bone and webing, and readies herself as well,

just in time to receive a massive swarm of spiders pouring into the cooridor from the pipes.

The few that first enter the room become paste beneith the boots of Lam, as she tap dances across the room. Lia joins her in on the squishing. Yes retreats to the

entrance to the coridor. The swarm grows larger, and Lam retreats to the archway from whence the party came. Patiently waiting for this moment, Amir lets loose his

magic laying waste to the swarm with a swath of fire accross the floor.

The surviving spiders break up into small swarms, and split up going after Amir, Lia, and Lam. After battling fiercly with the swarm, which fought with ferocity to

cling to the three, they were smote by their prey. Just as the swarms were defeated, the clattering of larger feat grew louder, and three medium create sized spiders

emerged into the room from a larger set of pipes. The spiders once again split up, two going after Lia, and one after Lam.

After a great strungle during which the spiders struck Lia and Amir with their ethereal leg attacks, which drained them of their life, and illuminated the spiders

bulbous ass with an blue white light. As the battle with the spiders waged on, the players begin to notice that Yes is growing pale, and two very large spider legs

poised on either side of him. Shortly after noticing that, a blue white light begings to grow behind Yes, shadowing the form of a gigantic spider.

As the medium spider are defeated, by powerful strikes from all three adventurers, the large spider emerges from behind yes, tossing him asside like a rag doll. As it

does, the players also notice a trio of skeletons emerge from the other end of the corridor, and charge toward them. The gigantic spider slowly advances on the

players, as they stand ready, on two fronts. The skeletons continue their charge, right past the players and proceed to drive the spider back down the hallway.

One of the skeletons chases after the spider, and the remaining two move slowly to meet the payers. Lia investigates Yes’ condition, determining that it is beyond

conventional healing. Amir also realizes what kind of spiders they are dealing with, Soul Eating Spiders also known as Cemetary wraith Spiders.

The Soul Eating Spiders are eaters of chi, the vitality of living things. They steal the energy from their pray, leaving them weakened or comatosed. The stolen life

force is stored in their asses, where it is digested slowly over a day or so. The act of digestion causes the normally invisible life force to take on a blue white

glow. To restore the vitiality to the victum, they must consume the fluid of the spiders ass, which stole it.

Amir also realizes that the lizard creature which Lam was trying to warm up with a fire, is actually a likely victum of the Soul Eating Spiders.

Amir consumes his portion of the spider ass, which attacked both him and Lia, before offering up the rest to Lia. As he does, he sees a memory of his own, and a

vision of a young girl in a street gang.

Finally the large skeleton speaks, it inquires as to their purpose in this place, Amir answers. The skeleton recognizes Eyla, and tells the players of the lizard

creatures following her, and that the one now frozen against the wall was one of them and also a victum of the Soul Eating Spiders. The one who stole that creatures

chi was wounded and likely died, which is why he is not completely dead yet. The large skeleton, calling himself Bonemeal, offers to show the players the Queen Spiders layer.

So what now?

What will be the effects of sharing life foce between Amir and Lam?

Should the players seek to recover yes, so as to learn what secrets he holds, or go after the life force of the lizard create in order to learn more about the misterious dissapearance of Eyla?

Return to Ruin

It has been ten years since the bloody night, when Eyla Illion crashed in from the night, and slaughtered the slavers holding you and elven other children. You remember watching from the cracks in the old wall boards watchig, every arc of her long blade as she splattered the slavers blood accross the room, and every hypnotic word she spoke as she invoke her God’s rath upon them. She was perfection.

Now ten years from that day you three have been summoned by Eyla, to the orphinage where the slavers were holding you, only to find it burned to the ground and three others arriving at the same time.

After much scrutinizing and nastalga, you come to recognize two of your fellow orphans, and one human man, too old to have been one of the orphans, who veils his identity in a black cloak and an alias “Yes.”

Just when you are finally becoming settled with the current group, from within the bushes to the north you hear the ribbits of a frog, and a coughing expression “bullshit.” Lia investigates, with Lam covertlly observing, and finds what appears to be a plain old frog. Now choosing to reveal her presence, Lam, shifts back into the form she wore as a orphan, and comes balling in for hugs, just in time to join in with the frog. Unsure the frog was the source of the “bullshit”, Lia remains scepticals of the frog, until Lam comes in for a hug and steps on the leg of the frog, causing him to cry out, “ouch that hurt.”

Now afirmed to the frogs mistical identity the group proceed to question the frog, who seems unwilling to converse in anything more than sarcastic expressions and ribbits. Finally the frog reveals a critical clue, his wings. It takes Amir only moments to regonize the create for what it is, a fairy. Not just any fairy, but the race of fairies which serves as the Fairy Queens spies, and are sworn not to reveal their nature unless they are caught. Amir names the frog, “Fairy!” and the rouse is dropped.

The small frog fairy, reveals that he was with Eyla, but that she is now missing and might need their help. When he left the cottage was just a pile of ruins, but when he returned the cottage was ashes and Eyla was gone.

The players discover a secret door, which is nothing more than a slab of stone with some Fay ancient archanic spell of activation. Amir speaks the words, and the slab of stone comes to life, as a ancient golem, who has been parted with a majority of its magic over the years. After a ferotious battle, during which Amir, Lam and Lia participate, Lia strikes the final blow to the golem with her quaterstaff shattering the stone form to peices.

The party wastes no time proceeding to the now revealed passage into the ground, only stopping to investage the ruins of the golem, when a glint of something shinny draws Lam and Amirs interest. Upon closer investigation, they discover a very unlikely gem, which was burrowed deep in the golems chest. This deep red gem pulsates gently, sending subtle burst along the flaw lines within. Amir, saftely stores the gem amongst his possessions.

The crew, Lam, Lia, Amir, and Yes proceed into the narrow passage, leaving the fairy frog who fled the scene during the battle to its own devises. The passage is lined with dust and cob webs. In the dust are the tracks for a single medium humanoid, leading up to a slightly adjar door.

After entering the room, Lam, sticks to the walls near the door, and the rest of the crew follows the footprints accross the room to the door on the West of the room (Two more doors on the North wall exist, as well as the one they used to enter in the south end of the room). Each door appears to have the same Fey acanic writing as on the door stone, however each is a little differet.

Amir speaks the incantaion on the westward door, and a gust of force blows through the room, clearing their footprints and almost closing the door, were it not for Lam’s intervention with her quarterstaff. Lam, notices the footprints are gone and alters the group, who come over to the door to see. As they do, four sets of foot prints matching the fours own mysteriously begin walking around the room. Lam attempts to intercept the invisible force making the footprints only to find nothing substanial.

Creeped out, the party proceeds back to the westward door, to find that it is now ajar. Amir, once again leads the party down the narrow halway on the other side of the west door. Eventually the passage widens, and they find a citinous reptilian humanoid clining to the wall, with some sort of resin, or web binding him to it.

Lam investigates the reptile, and decides to make a fire to see if it was dormant from the cold of the underground, the rest of the party proceeds. As the party walks through the rooms they notices several small and a few large drains lining the walls of the widened passage. At first they are silent, but half way through the widened space, they beging to hear clicking echoing from the drains. Quiet and distinct at first, but slowly the clattering increases, until the numbers are indistinguishable.

Dun, dun, daaaaaaaah…. to be continued…

What was the force that blew through the first room, made the footprints, and openend the door?

Who is Yes, and why is he here? For that matter who are all these once familiar people, and what brought them to this place?

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
